Directions

At the Shamineau Ranch, our desire is to 'clear a way to the cross' by sharing Christ's love in a camp setting.  Our goal is to eliminate the distractions of everyday life so campers can experience the love of Christ.

What does this mean for our campers?
1.  Campers will hear about Jesus Christ through Bible stories and will have devotional times while they are here.
2. During programmed camps, campers will have the opportunity to participate in riding times, ground lessons, chapel times and all camp events, fellowshipping with others.
3.  Shamineau also plans chapel times for programmed camps.  Chapel times generally consist of skits and games, singing, and a speaker who shares a message.

What else should I expect at the Ranch?
1.  Campers will need long pants with boots or lace-tied shoes to ride a horse.  Many outside activities are offered when the weather allows, so pack seasonally appropriate clothes.
2. Life at Shamineau is informal and modesty is expected.  Campers should not wear tank tops with spaghetti straps, midriff-baring shirts, and tight or short shorts/pants.  The Shamineau waterfront requires 1-piece swimming suits.
3. Campers should be ready to have a great time, make new friends, and be encouraged through fellowship with other campers and staff.

Safety
1. Shamineau makes every effort to have a Nurse, EMT, or First Responder present at every camp.
2. During summer, the waterfront hires certified lifeguards to watch the swim areas.  Campers must also pass a swimming test to go in the deep section.
3. A night watch security guard is also hired during summer.

Our staff
1. To qualify for a summer staff position, each staff member must successfully complete an in-depth process.  First, an application must be completed, including answering questions about childcare experience, certifications, and spiritual maturity.  Three references from adults who can comment on their character are also required.  Second, each applicant must interview for their position which is conducted in person whenever possible.  Lastly, if an applicant is chosen, each must attend our week-long staff training where they will be prepared for a summer of service.
2 Along with full time staff, our summer staff also help run camps during the rest of the year.
