How are the five Shamineau ministries related?

Shamineau Ministries is the umbrella organization whose board of directors provides the governance of Camp Shamineau and Rock Ridge Camp. Shamineau International Inc. was a program of Shamineau Ministries that has incorporated as a separate non-profit organization with its own board of directors of which the Executive Director of Shamineau Ministries is an ex-officio member.

Shamineau Ranch and Shamineau Adventures operate as part of Camp Shamineau and are not separate organizations.
How did Shamineau get its start?

Historically, Shamineau Ministries found its beginning in 1914 as the Minnesota Young People’s Society which started Buffalo Lake Bible Camp on the shores of Buffalo Lake in Buffalo, Minnesota. In 1957 that property was sold to purchase the current property on Lake Shamineau, becoming Camp Shamineau, with its first summer of ministry in 1958.

How many staff members does it take to run Shamineau?

Shamineau Ministries, Camp Shamineau, and Rock Ridge Camp employ about 16 full time employees, 10 part-time employees, and 3 interns year round. An additional 60-70 collegians are hired for the summer ministry with around 55 high school SMTs (Summer Missions Team).

Who owns Camp Shamineau?

Shamineau Ministries is a non-profit organization (Camp Shamineau, Rock Ridge Camp) and is governed by a Board of Directors who are elected at an annual meeting of Evangelical Free Churches of the North Central District. Thus, the Board has stewardship of the Shamineau properties. The Board is also responsible for hiring the Shamineau Ministries Executive Director.
