TENDERFOOT campers get the chance to be introduced to new skills while at camp. Each kid will experience supervised activities such as pony rides, swimming and campfire donut making. Tenderfooters participate in skills classes as a cabin group.
TRAILBLAZER campers have the opportunity, once at camp, to sign up for two skills classes during the week. Every skills class has two parts, each containing a different skill. This allows Trailblazers to participate in four new skills throughout the week. Skills classes are chosen by each camper according to their personal area of interest. (Trailblazers who pre-register for Ropes Course Skills Class will sign up for only one other skills class.)
VOYAGER campers have the opportunity, once at camp to sign up for one skills class during the week. This allows Voyagers to get more in depth at one skill. Skills classes are chosen by each camper according to their personal area of interest. (Voyagers can pre-register for Ropes Course Skills Class as their skills class for the week.)
Some Skills Class choices include: swimming, outdoor cooking, sailing, skateboarding, canoeing, sports, leather shop, model rocketry, fishing, water skiing, wakeboarding, mountain boarding, and nature classes. Some classes require a small fee for project supplies. Trailblazer and Voyager campers sign up for skills classes after arriving on Sunday. (Ropes Course Skills Class is available for pre-registration and a fee. See Ropes Course Skills Classes.)
Ropes Course Skills Classes Ropes Course Skills Class teaches campers teamwork and leadership skills through experiences on the low ropes course, high ropes course and the rock-climbing wall. Ropes Course Skills Classes have levels of achievement from Beginners to Advanced. Campers must pre-register for the class and pay a non-refundable $50 class fee. For campers not registered for a daily Ropes Course Skills Class, an introductory experience on the zip line is available during free times for a minimal fee. Sign-ups take place each day. |
